HISTORY

The Charter for the Holy Royal Arch Chapter of St.Aubyn was issued on 3rd August 1864, and the Chapter was consecrated shortly afterwards, originally meeting in The Lodge Rooms, Morice Town, Devonport.

There were eleven founders who formed the Chapter, and our original First Principal was Lorenzo Pastor Metham. The names of the founders, and names of First Principals up to 1964, and names of First Principals from 1965 are all displayed in our hall.

The foundation stone for the St.Aubyn Masonic Hall was laid in 1905, and we have held our convocations here ever since it's subsequent completion.

At St. Aubyn Chapter, we put a lot of effort into our ritual, and take pride in it's quality, but we are also a friendly and companiable chapter, and our companions and guests always enjoy the Festive Board after our ceremony.

Our members range in age from 30s to 80s: some are quite local, many others from all over the Plymouth area, and some companions travel regularly from up to 30+ miles to our convocations. Our companions come from a wide range of backgrounds, trades, and professions.

We have Companions, Excellent Companions, Provincial, and Grand ranking officers among our members.

St. Aubyn Chapter is located in the Province of Devonshire.
